Well, it finally happened...Matt completed 3 years of graduate school to earn his MBA from Berkeley. We are so excited! We had a great weekend celebrating with family and friends, so I thought I would share a few photos from our commencement weekend. We had record-breaking heat here in the Bay Area, so it just happened to be over 90 degrees in Berkeley on Friday. Poor Matt suffered through it all in his black robe and hat. We left Claira at home to save her from the heat. We managed to find a little bit of shade to retreat to when the sun became unbearable.
As the graduates came out, Grace freaked out because she couldn't find her daddy-everyone looked the same in their robes and hats. She started crying and yelling for daddy. She was so happy when she was finally able to spot daddy in the crowd of graduates. She was such a trooper and was so excited to walk across the stage with daddy--she waved at the crowd the whole way across. She was too cute!
We came home from the graduation exhausted-only to find that our air conditioning was not working at home. It was miserable in our house! Luckily, our landlords got right on it and had it fixed by Sunday morning, but we spent two incredibly hot days without any air conditioning. We spent Friday evening celebrating with family at Casa Orozco in Dublin (yummy Mexican food).
On Saturday, Matt went to his final class (yes, he graduated on Friday and attended class on Saturday). Then we had a little graduation party at the park. It was incredibly hot, but there was a bit of a breeze that made it bearable (and it was actually nicer outside than inside our house). It was so much fun to have so many friends and family come to help us celebrate Matt's big day!
The last three years have been hard as Matt has sacrificed so much for our family. Through it all, he worked full-time, maintained an incredible GPA, continued to be a wonderful husband and loving father, and stayed calm and relaxed most of the time. I really don't know how he did it, but we are so proud of him and all that he has accomplished. We love you Matt! Congratulations on a job well done!

Congrats Matt! Peter and I were just talking about Matt and if he had finished grad school, and reminiscing about that job they had when they unlocked the doors on campus or set up chairs for church. Something like that. Anyway what a great accomplishment!
Wow! What an accomplishment! 3 years is a long time, but what a relief to be done. Way to go Matt!
Congratulations to both of you!!! Eric went through an MBA program that he graduated from 2 years ago... it was a hard 3.5 years for us too, so I personally know how big of an accomplishment that really is! I used to think that Casa Orozco had the best mexican food, but down here in AZ it's sooo much better! :)
Congratulations Matt!
