Last Saturday (March 14th), we enjoyed our annual St. Patrick's Day parade in Dublin. We weren't sure if we were going to be able to go seeing as Grace had broken out in a terrible rash on Thursday called Slap Cheek (AKA: Fifth's Disease & Parovirus). It pretty much covered her entire body (it is still on her arms and legs, but is fading) and literally looked like someone had slapped her cheeks. The rash on her chest and back looked more like she had been laying on a doily. It was not a pretty sight. Despite the doctor's warning that Claira would most likely get it seeing as it is quite contagious, we have not seen any signs thus far. The parade was cold, but fun, and we enjoyed seeing some friends from Dublin. It is so crazy to think that we live only a few miles away, but based on how often we see each other, it feels like a few states away.

Our St. Patrick's Day was as eventful as ever. Grace was very into the sneaky little leprechaun this year, so she made a cute little leprechaun trap in hopes of catching the little guy. Once again, he fooled us all and got away leaving some chocolate coins and rainbow confetti in his place. After checking out the treasure, Grace very observantly said "the leprechaun must shop at See's candy". Can't say that I blame him--their chocolate coins and foil-wrapped clovers are the BEST! But he must shop early because they sell-out quickly.

We had green pancakes and green scrambled eggs for breakfast--in bed I might add (This is our favorite family hangout these days. Having Matt home is so much fun--the girls come in pretty much every morning to wake mommy up. Yes, I sleep in most mornings--so sue me for taking advantage of having my husband home. hen we make a cave out of the sheets, and Grace and Claira crawl down to the bottom of the bed to hide in the deep, dark cave. Ahhh...we can't wait until Matt retires. It is so much FUN! Oh, and yes, Claira is wearing Christmas jammies on St. Patrick's Day--at least they have some green on them.)

Oh yes, I must add that Claira enjoyed holding her popsicle by herself for the first time. It made for some cute pictures. This is the new scrunched-up, eyes-closed face she makes when I ask her to smile for the camera. It is too much and too cute!
Dinner was of course corned beef and cabbage along with a few potatoes and some clover-shaped rolls (made using refrigerator breadsticks). We finished off the evening with green mint chocolate chip ice cream. It was a lucky day all around. Happy St. Patty's Day!
