In our house, January 1st is no longer celebrated as New Year's Day--2 years ago that holiday was changed to be Claira's birthday. We still get a visit from Mrs. Santa Claus, but the rest of the day is dedicated to Claira. This year we celebrated with all things Claira--Little Miss Sunshine, Little Miss Naughty, and Little Miss Chatterbox, C-shaped sugar cookies, banana cupcakes, pineapple, bacon, and eggs for breakfast, and pizza for dinner. Claira blew out the candles on her very own polka dot birthday cake at least 5 times, each time requesting "Again, again!" She opened presents like a pro, and after each one would hold it up and say "TA-DA!" She was adorable!
A few of my favorite things about my littlest love right now are...
*How she specifically asks for her "pink mama" or her "orange juice mama".
*How she says excuse me to get past anyone then pushes them out of the way.
*How she can be completely rough and tumble one minute then quiet and cuddly the next.
*How she absolutely adores her big sister Grace--even when she is tangling her fingers through Grace's hair or pinching her cheeks.
*How she loves to twirl mommy and daddy's hair for night-night time. She actually will request "mommy hair" or "daddy hair" depending on who she wants to put her to sleep.
*How she loves to give kisses and hugs freely at bedtime and naptime.
*How she scrunches up her face and says "Ahhhh, chute baby!" about everything from babies to poopy diapers.
*How she is discovering princesses and requests to wear "Cinerella jammies" every night.
Claira is truly an amazing blessing to us. When I think of the circumstances surrounding her arrival into our family on New Year's Day two years ago, I can't help but be grateful to a loving Heavenly Father and a selfless young woman both of whom knew that Claira was always meant to be ours. She is truly a gift and brings so much joy to our family.
Happy Birthday Babycakes!

So cute Alicia. I love how you make every Holiday and birthday one to remember. You always inspire me to try harder to make things more special.
